Welcome to English I Honors!
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This Honors course integrates literature and composition with an emphasis on learning literary terms, vocabulary development, reading comprehension skills, and clear, coherent writing. Particular focus will be given to grammatical concepts that are critical to student’s success across all academic disciplines. Writing focuses on mechanical correctness, fluency, and structure. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills in understanding, applying, and evaluating key concepts. Students should expect homework assignments and compositions that reinforce classroom instruction.

Biography/Contact Information
I graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Education and a Minor in English, and I am in the process of completing my Masters in Instructional Technology at NC State University. I began my career in 1996 and I love teaching! I have taught all levels of high school English over the course of the years and I am happy to be teaching you this semester!
Some great pieces of Literature are taught in this course and I can't wait to introduce you to them. We will get to read To Kill a Mockingbird, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, Fahrenheit 451, and The Odyssey to name a few. I love to utilize technology in my classroom and I hope that you get used to incorporating it into your learning.
